Solution: After a routine checkup of an LKC installation at US Steel in Chicago, they realized the pipe with the LKC installed was the only pipe free of zebra mussels. We immediately began testing on the LKC effects on zebra mussels and we had found that the molecular structure of the LKC treated water prevents the calcium carbonate lattice structure formation, which is the foundation for the zebra mussel to build its shell. Without the shell, the zebra mussel cannot survive the environment surrounding its body. It simply dies from exposure.

Water/Scale Control

Solution: In boiler applications the LKC System is placed between the pump and the boiler. Forces exerted on the atoms in the water prevent the calcium carbonate (scale) from forming. Boiler will operate at maximum efficiency. Sludge is discharged from the boiler during the blow down procedure. An amine must be used to eliminate corrosion in steam lines.

Solution: In cooling tower applications the LKC System is installed in the recirculating line on the discharge side of the pump. The solids are flocculated (settled) to the bottom of the tower where they are discharged during blow down. All equipment in the system, as well as the cooling tower will be clean of scale and operate at maximum efficiency. Algaecides should still be used to control organic fouling.

Solution: The water pressure needed to pump water from the bottom to top increases each day as scale buildup occurs. Chemical treatment breaks away the scale, but eats away trace amounts of the pipes as well. Over time this leads to a need to replace the pipework in the building causing an expense which is more than anyone wishes to endure. The LKC keeps pipes at maximum efficiency without any harm to the pipes. Solution: Hot water heaters have a tendency to scale very badly, even in areas where water is considered good quality. Solution: The LKC System will eliminate common problems associated with calcium scale build up in ice machines. Scale reduces cycle time and equipment must be shut down for cleaning. The LKC System will prevent calcium deposits, decreasing cycle time, allowing more ice to be produced per day. We have had customers who were going to buy additional ice machines, but the LKC System allowed them to produce more ice than needed with existing equipment.

Solution: A large percentage of the HEAVY INDUSTRIAL accounts have rivers or lakes as there prime water source. Many of them use water on a single pass system in which water is pumped to the plant, through the process, and goes back to the river or lake. In these cases the LKC System is placed in the line as it enters the plant and the entire plant is treated. The only exception would be where there are recirculating systems independent to the main line, such as cooling towers or boilers that have there own recirculating loops. Paraffin Control

Solution: The LKC System causes water and oil to separate by altering the bond between them. Typically, the LKC system, when installed on an oil/water separator will increase the efficiency to acceptable standards without using the costly chemical additives. In an actual application, the LKC System lowered the water content from 8% to .4%.

Principles of Operation

An LKC works on a basic electrical principal. In short, what it does is polarize the mineral molecules in your water as dipoles. Think of the molecules as magnets each with a north and south pole. We have all tried to push magnets together and found that a north and south pole attract each other. If two molecules of calcium (for example) are polarized by an LKC then the south pole of one will attach itself to the north pole of the other. With a long chain of molecules attached to each other, they are unable to attach themselves to the walls of your pipe (creating scale). They remain in suspension and scale is eliminated.

Now there is absolutely no electric charge available for them to grab onto the walls of your piping. Even with the elevated TDS levels no scale or corrosion can form. Even existing deposits are slowly removed as those molecules join along in the attachment process.

Availability

Linear Kinetic Cells are available for out of water or underwater installations. Many sizes are in stock and ready for immediate shipment. Those that are not in stock will generally have approximately a one week shipment time.

Labor

Chemical treatment requires continuous monitoring, adjusting feed, servicing of feed equipment, handling, and extensive water testing required to maintain proper water chemistry. The LKC System is self monitoring and requires no maintenance.

Safety

Safety is the most feared part of using chemical treatment in water systems. There have been many cases of severely burned hands, arms, and faces of persons handling chemicals. The LKC System requires no chemicals. Places to use: The LKC System can be used in any water system. The places of use range from up to 24" main water intakes, to actually putting the cell into a process water pipe line as small as ½”. Space

The LKC System requires little room for installation since the entire cell is placed directly into the water line, requiring only electrical service. Continuous Treatment: The LKC system operates automatically, 24 hours a day with no assistance or monitoring.
